What We Do

As the first statewide charter school incubator in the country, the Tennessee Charter School Incubator was launched with one purpose: to close the education achievement gap in Tennessee by supporting the creation of high-quality, public charter schools in Memphis and Nashville.

The Tennessee Charter School Incubator dedicates itself to training leaders to develop high-performing charter schools that will serve as statewide and national models of education reform. We provide financial and professional resources to proven leaders who are willing to take on the greatest challenges within our education system. TCSI has developed a comprehensive support framework for its Education Entrepreneurs Fellowship, which provides unprecedented training, incubation and early-launch support to experienced leaders looking to transform low-performing public schools into high-quality charter schools. We attract some of the best talent in the country due to our generous offerings and our proven track record.

We provide support in three key areas of charter school development: training, incubation and launch.

  • Training:

Our fellows complete rigorous personalized training that provides the managerial and entrepreneurial skills necessary to create successful schools – especially in critical environments that require immediate and profound results. The Education Entrepreneurs Fellowship focuses on transforming such schools into the same kinds of high-performance charter schools that previous fellows have launched.

  • Incubation:

Once fellows have begun to develop their schools, TCSI provides board recruitment support and assistance in finding quality teaching talent and community gatekeepers who help locate resources and support. Fellows will also have access to education leaders across Tennessee and the rest of the country to guide them in their work.

  • Launch:

Our Education Entrepreneurs fellows continue to receive communication and operational support in the early stages of launching their turnaround strategies.
